Westside Medical Clinic: How Watermark Health has Inspired the Body of Christ in Fort Worth

Updated: Mar 4

Dr. Aaron Adamson, DO first heard about Watermark Health through his wife Kensey. They had been members at Watermark’s then Fort Worth Campus (now an independent church), and learned about a Watermark Health clinic in Dallas that was serving the uninsured and underinsured. Even though it meant about an hour commute, Aaron decided to give serving there a try.

Serving at Watermark Health began to open Aaron’s eyes to the possibilities of what can happen when the church chooses to meet its city’s needs. As a physician in the Emergency Department (ED), Aaron knew first hand how hard healthcare can be to access for those on the margins. He was seeing the injustices of the healthcare system playing out in front of him - patients who had ended up in the ED because their smaller ailments had gone untreated. Something different was happening at the Watermark Health - those who traditionally cannot access healthcare in the United States were not only accessing it, but also being ministered to in the process.

As he served with Watermark Health, Aaron’s professional skills and leadership were deployed first as a Provider volunteer, then as the Medical Director (overseeing the Advanced Practice Providers on the team), and eventually as a Board Member. During his tenure in a variety of roles, he caught a vision for the good that a clinic like this could do in a community, as well as the ways it disciples the Body of Christ.

“While serving, I got to hear incredible stories of patients who had come into the clinic, were introduced to Christ during their visit, and then their entire life transformed. I began to wonder…why don’t we have something like this in Fort Worth? What would it take?” - Dr. Aaron Adamson, DO

He began sharing the opportunity with his home church in Fort Worth, as well as a variety of other local churches. Before he knew it, a group of individuals from Watermark Fort Worth, Doxology, The Hills, and Paradox were meeting to form a non-profit entity to oversee a future clinic. They came together as “the big C church” to build an effort to bless the city through Westside Medical Clinic.

As a board was assembled and pledges towards the effort were made, Aaron knew who to trust for the operational support of the clinic. He shared with the team about his experiences with Watermark Health and began connecting the two groups. Through a series of meetings, and tours of Watermark Health's Dallas clinic, the board was aligned- becoming a part of the Collaborative Clinic Network would help their dreams become reality.

Watermark Health’s Collaborative Clinic Network became the link that made this effort manageable for the group of churches in Fort Worth. Unified with a call from scripture and a shared vision for churches to experience the growth and goodness of God through healthcare ministry, both Watermark Health and Westside Medical Clinic have been working towards the launch of their clinic, which will open to patients in early April 2026.

Next week we’ll continue this story from Watermark Health’s perspective. Having Westside Medical Clinic as the first of hopefully many Collaborative Clinics has been a true gift and an exciting opportunity to pursue together. We’ll share more about what God was doing behind the scenes at Watermark Health to make this partnership possible. Until then, if your church is interested in launching a healthcare outreach ministry, you can learn more about our Collaborative Clinic Network here.
