When Faith Meets Innovation

Watermark Health recently had the opportunity to speak at the FaithTech Dallas Quarterly Gathering and share the story behind a technology project developed in partnership with the FaithTech community.

The partnership began with Rob Momary, a longtime Watermark Community Church member whose wife had also served with Watermark Health. Wanting to use his background in technology to serve the church, Rob got involved in building the FaithTech Dallas chapter. As the group of technology volunteers looked for opportunities to serve, Rob reached out to church staff to ask where their skills could make the greatest impact. He was pointed towards Watermark Health, and what started as a simple conversation grew into an incredible partnership through FaithTech’s Create 8 initiative.

Create 8 brings together volunteers who take a redemptive approach to technology by building solutions that support the work God is already doing. Reflecting on the partnership, Rob shared, “It was a great way to introduce people to Christ in a very practical way through Watermark Health and through the way we wanted to build technology for other people.”

One challenge Watermark Health shared with the team was managing the many community resources available to patients. As a trusted resource hub, Watermark Health maintains information on housing, food assistance, counseling, and other vital services. Over time, these resources became scattered across multiple PDFs and documents, making them difficult to access, update, and navigate.

Through a variety of meetings and site visits, the FaithTech team took time to understand the needs of the Watermark Health staff and thoughtfully design a solution. Together, they built a tool that makes community resources easier to maintain and more accessible, helping connect patients with the support they need more efficiently. This tool is slated to be formally utilized across the ministry in the coming month. As Rob reflected on the process, he said, “Both visions were aligned. We were building technology prayerfully and in a Christlike way, not just building something for the sake of building it.”

This partnership is a powerful reminder that redeeming healthcare one person at a time takes all members of the body of Christ to use their God-given gifts for His glory. Whether caring for patients in the clinic, connecting families to critical resources, or building technology that removes barriers to care, each act becomes part of a greater story of redemption. Through partnerships like FaithTech, Watermark Health is able to serve more people with excellence, compassion, and the hope of Christ—helping ensure that every patient who walks through our doors experiences both practical care and the love of God.
