In 2017 Watermark Health's leadership saw an opportunity to expand the ministry's impact due to the ongoing growth of patient volumes and volunteer capacity. Watermark Community Church had already established a church campus 12 miles to the north to serve and reach neighborhoods in Plano and Collin County.
As Watermark Health leadership prayed and considered opportunities, launching a clinic alongside this campus was pursued, and alignment across both organizations led to a clinic launch in early 2018. Again, members of the local church were able to deploy their gifts through real estate, construction management, architecture, hospital administration, and city government.
We were able to establish that this area was a good fit based on several important factors. One of the most significant reasons was the absence of a county hospital in Collin County. Due to this lack of public resources, more than 6,000 residents of Collin County had to travel to Parkland to be served in the ER in that year alone. Since we launched, we've been able to make a dent in those numbers by serving our patients in their own city.
Want to help us expand across the next 10 years? We have had conversations with multiple churches and non profits asking for new locations, but we need your help to make it possible. Consider investing in the Watermark Health mission!
